The Statement is looking for creative work that is inspired by each month’s single-sentence prompt.
We love work that provokes discussion, curiosity, amusement, and awe. We love art that inspires more art. If you’d like us to consider your work, please make sure it fits the guidelines below:
Should be sent to email@example.com
Include with your submission 2-5 sentences that explain how your work was inspired by this month's statement. This helps us evaluate your piece, and won't be published on the site.
Creators retain all rights to their work after publication. We may republish work or excerpts of work on social media after publication.
We will consider one submission per month per contributor.
We accept fiction, personal essays, and poetry. Any genre.
There is no length requirement.
Please paste the entirety of your piece into an email. We don’t accept attachments because we will definitely mess up the spacing and font when we to put it on the site.
VISUAL ART SUBMISSIONS
We accept photography, analog and digital illustration, paintings, and cartoons.
Paintings should be photographed and saved in .jpg format. Maximum file size should be 2MB.
Artists may only submit a single piece of work. Diptychs and triptychs are allowed, but the pieces must be photographed as a single image.
MUSIC? VIDEO? SCULPTURE?
We’re happy to consider creative work outside the formats listed above. Get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll figure something out.
WHEN WILL I FIND OUT IF MY WORK WILL BE PUBLISHED?
We aim to respond to all submissions within a week of receiving them.
